In the beginning, she had played small roles like. In 1962, she Appeared in a Tamil film “Idhu Sathiyam”. Then “Pandama Vanavasam” in 1965. And Sapno ka Saudagar in “1968”, Johnny Mera Naam in 1970, Andaz and Lal Patthar in 1971, Seeta Aur Geeta in 1972 and much more.
Her first film with his husband was “ Tum Haseen Main Jawaan”. They both have acted in 28 other films too like ;Charas, Jugnu, Apna Khoon. She was starred in many films in 1980s ; Kranti , Naseeb, Rajput, Durgaa and Ramkali.
She again appeared on screens with “Dharmendra” her husband in some films ; AliBaba Aur 40 Chor , Samraat and Baghavat. She has also acted as a lead actress with “Rajesh Khanna” in many movies such as; Hum Dono, Dard, Bandish.
Since 1990s , she started working as a producer, and worked as producer in a fim “Dil Aashna Hai”. Then in 1995, she produced second film “Mohini”. In 1999, She campaigned for the candidate “Vinod Khanna” for the “Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP). She then officially joined “BJP” in 2004. Since 2003 to 2009 , she has been a MP there. In 2010, she was made The General Secretory of the BJP. In 2014, she won 3,30,743 votes and defeated “Jayant Chaudhary”. She is currently serving as the member of “Lok Sabha” , BJP.
